Analysis - Mind Hunter

MindHunter

This clip is a opening sequence towards the series Mind-hunter, It's a drama inspired series.I'm going to be analysing what I can see, which genre does it sit in, how do I know that and also the camera angles. I will also be discovering their ways of editing and also sound mixing too.

I was capable to identify that this is going to be a recorded session of interrogation towards a serial killer because there was dead bodies flashing through this video suggesting who ever is going to be interrogated would have committed similar to these crimes or even done them before. The bodies are male and female which suggests that a high audience can be connected to this murder case also from these small seconds of flashing images you can identify they are few days old maybe even weeks. This series is highly involved with drama/horror because of how their imagery has been captured everything I've seen yet has been dark colours and mainly dark imagery because of that I can strongly suggest its going to be involved with the horror prospect of entertainment, I have identified this by simply referring it to other series similar to this.

Camera angles
the camera angles used within the first scenes have a very depth detail into the imagery, This was made by using close up shots and detailed light work because of that it has also created mysteries vibe onto the image making sure people are limited of what they can see and how they can interpret the scenes. I think the audience was setup towards a mystics feeling of how scenes linked together and also there was dead bodies flashing thought the full sequel making sure its highly involved because of that it created mystery.
I think that the overall effect of this sequel is to show what the series will be about, showing the genre/group it fits into and mainly creating that mystery for people to continue watching. It's quite effective because there is no presents of characters involved with the mystery yet it seems to be very intriguing it also made the impression of being a murder case/investigation with few scenes contributed to this sequence.

Editing
From the start of the sequence we can see that there is limited view allowed for the audience to see whats happening because of this there is mysteries vibe going on. Also very close up shots showing individual actions with the recorder, there is diegetic sound and non diegetic sounds because of that editors made cutting on action or cuttings on beat which means creating a fade effect or J cut when sounds change. panning was also highly involved towards presenting non diegetic sounds. Volume was changing depending of the distance specific towards how the actions come in. Example of this can be Kim closing the lid of the recorder, it was close to your ears because the recorder was in the middle and also it was inches away from the camera on the other hand while putting the tape on it was panning and also changing volumes throughout that 10 second sequence.

Sound

There was diegetic sound and non diegetic sound throughout the full sequence mixed with the placement of how sounds were used and placed. What I mean by this is there was lots of non diegetic sound being mixed with diegetic sound and panned too, so it can sell that felling of being real.

I have developed more confidence and also understood how analysis works better, I have expanded my understanding towards index , icons, and symbols. I've been confident with structor of analysis before but now I have just gained better information of how to tackle a problem towards analysing.
